…I would give away my late round draft picks like they were candy on Halloween. Given an opportunity to acquire an established player for a some unknown rookie who might not even make the team, I would take the proven quantity every time.
When I hear pundits debate whether or not a known player is worth a 4th round pick in 2018, or a 5th round pick in 2017, I question whether they’re worried about winning a trade, or winning an actual sporting event. Draft picks are gambles and the more time you focus hedging your bets, the less time you are spending planning for actual events.
Plan for the future, but don’t forget to win games today.
